This is a self drive, three day programme in central Greece, in the mountainous region of Evritania - 4 hours drive from Athens. The area is surrounded by three impressive mountains of about 2,000m in height, hiding densely vegetated gorges, fast flowing rivers and hiking trails amongst fir forests. In the region you will come across many authentic villages with stone guesthouses, tavernas and shops selling local delicacies. You will be staying in the village of Koryschades that nestles on a forested slope overlooking the Karpenisiotis valley.
Day 1: Travel to Koryshades
Following the directions supplied drive to the mountain village of Koryshades (about 4 hours from Athens). Arrive in Koryshades for your stay at the Korys or Anatoli Guesthouse.
Day 2: Rafting in Tavropos River
Drive to the local base that is located on the riverbanks of the Tavropos River. Here, you will meet your local guides who will prepare you for your rafting experience. This is an enjoyable descent with amusing rapids in Tavropos River, one of the 3 rivers that flow across the region of Evritania and flowing into the artificial lake of Kremasta. The descent is of 2nd grade of difficulty, ideal for beginners. Just before the end of the descent very close to the arch stone bridge of Viniani, a stop for a short walk to a waterfall nearby.
Day 3: Horse riding
Just 5 minutes drive from Koryshades village you will find Saloon – the horse riding centre of the region. A guide will be waiting for you at a pre-arranged time to ride with you along the Karpenisiotis valley for about one hour. After the descent you can drive back to Athens.
