Ever tried Greek cherries, cherry marmalade and the cherry sweet?
Ever picked cherries and made marmalade? You can do so and enjoy a wonderful holiday on the foothills of Mt. Taygetus. Staying in a friendly top end guesthouse in a typical mountain village. Together with your host, Mrs Anna, going through the whole procedure of making cherry sweets, from picking the cherries up to storing them in jars.

Day 1: Travel from Athens to Arna
The guide will pick you up from your hotel in Athens and drive you to the village of Arna. Driving time of about 3.5 hours. Settle into the guesthouse and walk to the village square for dinner. In the village square there is the largest plane tree in Greece.

Day 2: Cherry picking and preparation
After breakfast, a drive to the estate of the guesthouse where you will pick and wash the cherries picked. Returning to the guesthouse where the cherry stones will be removed in the traditional way then making all necessary preparations for the next days cooking. In the evening a drive to the picturesque fishing village of Gythio, a 45 mins drive from the guesthouse.

Day 3: Preparation of marmalade and cherry sweet
Today learning how to make marmalade and the typical Greek cherry sweet. These will then be transferred into jars and labeled. A perfect present for your friends back home. Early in the evening returning to Athens.
