Day 1: Italy - Greece
Boarding the ferry-Departure in the evening. The high quality of the ship and the many entertainment option on board make your trip a comfortable and memorable experience. You are greeted with a welcoming cocktail. You can then enjoy the fresh air on the deck and a refreshing drink the swimming pool. Your dinner is pre-booked for you in the ferry’s restaurant. You can then visit the night-club which open until the early hours of the morning or try your luck in the casino. Overnight stay on board in 2-bed –cabins with shower/WC
Day 2: Patras -Olympia. (approx. 110 km)
Arrival in Patras. After a 2-hour driver along the coast you arrive in Olympia. The famous sanctuary lies in beautiful and serene landscape. The Greeks would gather in the luscious pine forests at the foothills of Mt Kronos to watch the greatest athletes of their times compete for a crown of laurel. You can enjoy the rest of the day by the pool of your hotel
Day 3: Olympia-Nafplion (approx 180 km)
Today’s journey begins with a visit to the archaeological site of Olympia where you can see the Stadium, the Temple of Zeus, the Palaestra, the Temple of Hera and the museums where unique artefacts are displayed. After a trip through the mountain area of the Peloponese, you arrive in Nafplion. The impressive city with its castle and fortified island of Bourdzi, offers great sightseeing and a wonderful hotel. You can swim in the Hotel sunny terrace and enjoy a refreshment from the pool-bar are on your programme for the afternoon. In the evening you go to one of the best tavernas in the area to enjoy greek musik and specialities and wine. You can give a go at the Syrtaki-dance!
Day 4: Nafplion-Epidavros-Mykene (approx.150 km)
Your first stop today is at Epidauros, with the extremely well-preserved Amphitheatre. Your next destination in the ancient place of Mykene with the Cyclopean Wall and the Lion Gate, some of the earliest examples of monumentary sculptures in Europe. Through vineyards and ancient olive groves, fantastic views over the Saronic Golf you arrive in Ancient Corinth to visit the ruins of the Apollo Temple. A short trip brings you to Isthmia, the channel of Korinth, which was opened in 1893. Short stop for coffee and photos! In the evening you arrive in Athens. You have the opportunity to wander around the capital for shopping and some sightseeing. In the evening you can enjoy an excellent meal in a fish tavern at the port of Piraeus
Day 5: Athens Akropolis & City-tour (approx. 60 km)
Today you take a tour around the city of Athens and visit the Agora, the Akropolis and Parthenon. Lunch in the hotel or at the foothills of the Acropolis at a very good traditional tavern (extra charge). In the afternoon you can visit the National Museum, take a walk in the National Park (with zoo) or simply relax in the hotel. In the evening we visit Plaka the old city of Athens for a folklore night of Greek food, wine and musik.
Day 6: Athens & Island-Day-Cruise
You take a 1-day-cruise to the islands of Aegina, Hydra and Poros. Lunch is served on board and a wonderful atmosphere is created by live traditional musik and dancing.
Day 7: Athens-Kalambaka (approx. 350km)
Today your journey takes you to the historical Passages of Thermopyle and Furka to Domokos where the view over the Thessalian-Plain is unforgettable. Thessaly is known for its rich mythological history. From there you pass Karditsa and Trikala and reach the end of the Thessalian-Plain. At this very point nature has created a breathtaking phenomenon which the Byzantine monks had already treasured. They built their monasteries at this site and for over 600 years the stand on 24 completely vertical cliffs. Visitors and pilgrims are always left speechless.
Day 8: Kalambaka-Delphi (approx. 210km)
in the morning we visit the Meteora-cliffs and one of the monasteries. The vertical sky-reaching cliffs will have a magical effect on you. From Meteora we move on over Lamia along the west side of Mt.Parnassos. It is said that Parnassos was the home of Apollo and the Nine Muses. At the end of this enjoyable journey we reach Delphi, “The navel of the ancient world”, one of the most significant archaeological sites of classic Greece. Delphi lies in the mist of a beautiful landscape of a mountain dale with a magnificent panoramic view. In Arachova and Gryssos, two small villages nearby offer us traditional specialities for dinner.
Day 9: Delphi-Patras-Boarding. (approx. 110 km)
In the morning we visit the sacret site of the famous Orakel Delphi. You can see the beautiful Stadium, the impressive Theatre, the Treasury, the Temple of Apollo, the Kastallian Springs and the Museum, full of priceless artefacts. From Delphi our coach takes us over Antirion-RIon to Patras. In Patras we have lunch at the port and then board the ferry in the evening.
Day 10: Arrival in Italy –
Journey home The ferry trip from Patras to Ancona is an unforgettable experience. The ships are fully equipped with modern facilities to ensure a pleasurable journey. Swimming pools, restaurants, bars, discos, casinos, sun-decks, shops, comfortable, modern cabins and of course air-conditioning throughout the ship.
