But that’s not all Rhodes has to offer. The unique cultural monuments, heritage of the island’s rich history, the mesmerizing landscapes and the beautiful villages and towns make a holiday in Rhodes unforgettably.
Day 1: Flight to Rhodes
Arrival at the airport of Rhodesw where you are greeted by your guide, and escorted to your hotel. After room allocation we all meet for a welcoming cocktail and a briefing on the programme for the next few days.
Day 2: City-Tour
First you visit the town of Rhodes and walk through the old town with the famous Knights’ Way and the narrow winding streets. The architectural image of the city’s centre is a combination of legacies left behind by the ancient Greeks, the Turkish occupancy, the Knights of Order and the Venetians. You can then pay a visit to the Palace of the Grand Master of the Order of St. John. From here you continue to the Acropolis to visit the temples of Apollo and the Stadium. You then return to your hotel. The afternoon is free for you to enjoy as you like.
Day 3: Island tour (approx. 150km)
The day begins with a drive along the lovely west coast to Kamiros where you can see the ruins of the Dorian town. From there you continue along the coast passing by the castle of Monolithos built by St. John’s Order on a steep rock overlooking the sea. You then journey through the beautiful landscapes of inner part of the island, through the mountains of Profitis Ilias to the monastery of Agios Nikolaos Funtukli, known for its beautiful frescos. Over the east coast you return to the hotel.
Day 4: Boat trip to the Island of Symi
Boat trip to the island of Symi which is situated directly opposite the Turkish coast. It was once known for its ship builders and sponge divers. A walk through the island’s capital city Simi with the upper- and lower town and the Knight’s castle dominating the peek. You an then visit the monastery of Panomitis situated at the south of the island.
Day 5: The Butterfly Valley (approx.150)
Today’s excursion takes you to the medieval monastery of Filerimos and into the green butterfly valley. The famous utterfly valley ‘Petaloudes’ is the greenest and most beautiful valley of the island, covered with big, sheltering trees and exotic flowers. A real nature experience! After a small walk through the valley where you can admire the beautiful Harleking butterflies (in July/August) we return to the hotel where the afternoon is free for you to spend as you like.
Day 6: Lindos (approx. 100km)
You drive through the Orange groves of Angelos and over Feraklos, where the first castle of St John’s Knights was built, to the charming town of Lindos with the imposing Castle, the Akropolis and the Sanctuary of Athena Lindia. The narrow, pretty streets of the old town city invite you to a stroll. The afternoon is free for you to spend as you wish.
Day 7: Archaeological Museum
Today you take a detailed tour of the Archaeological Museum with the vast exhibit of artefacts. The rest of the day is free for you to spend as you wish. You have the opportunity to go shopping in Rhodes or for a walk to the picturesque Mandraki-harbour. The bronze deer monument at the harbour entrance, where the seventh wonder of the the world, the ancient Colossus of Rhodes, once tood, is the landmark of the city. In the evening we can organise a folklore night for you with traditional music and dancing, diner and plenty of wine!
8th Day: Return flight
Transfer to the airport or extending of your trip upon request.
